He Didn’t Keep Me a Secret,

So Why Should I Hide Him?

I am so thankful that God gave me this heart of openness. I don't want to hold any secrets. I don't want to keep anything back. I want to share it all. I want everyone to know the goodness of our Lord and Savior. Of God. Of Logos. Of the Holy Spirit. It is my life mission. It is my ultimate joy. It is my purpose for living. I live for Christ because He died for me.

But I want to talk about why. Because I think a lot of people miss this part.

He Did All This On Purpose

God's original plan was to speak Logos — to speak us — into existing. He created us. His initial plan was for fellowship. For love. For grace. To share this amazing experience with us.

And yes, we messed it up. We did. But even still — He wants us to experience truly what He created us for. What an amazing thing. What an amazing God. What an amazing Father we have.

He gives you the desire. He seeks you out. He died for you. He rose again for you. He defeated death. He did all of this because of His original plan. That fellowship. That love. That grace.

So when I share, I'm not sharing because I'm trying to be impressive or righteous or because I have it all figured out. I'm sharing because I am responding to what He already did for me. He didn't keep me a secret. So why would I keep Him one?

You Have To Be Filled First

Here's something I've learned: you have to feed your spirit.

You have to open yourself and release yourself to be filled with the Word. You have to be filled with it initially, so that the Holy Spirit has something to bring up in you when the moment calls for it.

Because the Spirit isn't going to bring up something that was never put in. He works with what's there. So when I read, when I sit with the Word, when I let it sink in — I'm not doing that to check a box. I'm depositing something. I'm filling the well so that when somebody crosses my path who needs something, the Spirit has something to draw from.

That's why I don't think you can share God effectively if you're empty. Even with the best intentions, you can only give what you have.

The Sower Doesn't Do It Alone

One sows the seed. Another waters. Another does something else. But God really does it all.

That used to make me feel small, like what's even the point of me? But now I see it differently. The fact that God lets us participate at all — that He chose to include us in His own plan to reach people — that's the honor. I'm not the one who saves anybody. I can't even save myself. He did that. I'm just out here sowing whatever seeds He puts in my hand and trusting Him with the rest.

Why I Don't Keep Secrets

So when somebody asks me why I'm so open about my faith, why I share the messy parts of my story, why I don't dress it up — it's because He didn't keep me a secret.

He didn't hide me from grace. He didn't hide grace from me. He didn't tuck His love away in a box where only the qualified people could find it. He came looking for me when I was nine years old, and He has never left.

The least I can do — the very least — is keep the door open for somebody else to find Him too.

I am so not worthy. But I am so thankful that God chose me.
